The winters come home

A bridge in time
Winter Flight was a bridge in time, and another step in the evolutionary ladder for Inside Edge. The Winters Come Home.
With a new vocalist and renewed energy, a fresh wave of song writing was evolving from the creative core of Inside Edge; Winter Flight.
Carol-Anne had joined as Inside Edge vocalist and the band returned to The Shed Studio to record Winter Flight, featuring the tracks.
- Dawn Before Dark
- Wall of Silence
winter flight
Winter Flight followed on naturally and seamlessly from Caged Bird.
Winter Flight was released in March 1990 and received excellent reviews, press coverage, and radio airtime, particularly on KFM Radio.

city life
The creative core of Inside Edge was the sum of it’s parts.
Within Inside Edge there was collaboration, mutual trust, an unspoken understanding, and unshakeable belief, a shared desire, and a love of music.
These attributes were forged at the heart of Inside Edge and could be seen in the progression of the song writing and the reviews.
“Instantly likeable with its choppy guitar, a definite identity and sense of purpose; this is one of those demos that manages to stand a full head and shoulders above the others, due to a lot of thought and practice. ‘Dawn Before Dark’ is commercial and hits you immediately, and ‘Wall of Silence’ makes a big noise. Learn from them.”
Penny Anderson, City Life
Penny Anderson had in a few short sentences captured and summarised the essence, the journey, and evolution of Inside Edge.
It was true, Inside Edge as a musical entity had a definite identity and a sense of purpose.
dawn before dark
Dawn Before Dark is a song about hope.
Things always seem to get worse before they get better. No matter how bad things seem, there is hope.
The beat is a message to show you the way. Your heart beats a sound.

a bridge in time
Carol-Anne’s tenure with Inside Edge was short lived.
Inside Edge never performed any gigs or commenced any further studio recordings with Carol-Anne as vocalist.
Carol-Anne had a great voice, but didn’t contribute to the song writing of Inside Edge and ultimately it was not meant to be.
Inside Edge continued its evolution with Winter Flight acting as a bridge in time between Caged Bird and The Colours Your Paint Me. The writing was on the wall.
