An Evolution in Full Colour

For Inside Edge, the next stage was an evolution in full colour, and a seamless extension of the Winter Flight era.

A zenith, based on the evolution experience that had passed before. Inside Edge had found their equilibrium and the music had become fluid.

Inside Edge always knew what it wanted to say, and now it knew how to say it. It was in the music, the lyrics, and the sound. Every heartbeat, every emotion, every story. The pathway was founded on passion, our faith was friendship, and our love was music.

The Colours You Paint Me

At their rehearsal studio in New Mills, Inside Edge continued songwriting and rehearsing whilst recruiting for a new vocalist.

Step forward Phil, a friend of previous vocalist Matt, and another excellent vocalist.

The evolution was essential and the result was The Colours You Paint Me.

Once again Inside Edge returned to The Shed Studio, this time to record The Colours You Paint Me, featuring the songs:

  • We’ll Find a Way
  • Your Latest Storm

Your Latest Storm

Your Latest Storm was the second song on the studio recording The Colours You Paint Me.

Inside Edge were now selling band merchandise at their gigs, including demos, photographs, posters and t-shirts.

Your latest storm runs through me

Race round the heart inside me

You always smiled as you lied

And now that time has changed me

Your latest storm can’t reach me

And now you’ll find your locked outside

Music & Lyrics: Inside Edge (Carl, Mike, Nigel and Phil)

Inside Edge Live

Inside Edge was primarily about live music. Gigs and concerts were the natural home of the band, much favoured over studio sessions.

The rehearsal studio was setup for playing/rehearsing live, with its own p.a. system and lighting rig.

Inside Edge would rehearse there full-time, hold meetings there, and showcase their music there.

Most of the photographs of Inside Edge were taken at the rehearsal studio or nearby locations like Lyme Park and The Torrs, in New Mills.

We’ll Find a Way

We’ll Find a Way was the first song on the studio recording The Colours You Paint Me.

The songs were part of a new burst of creative output from Inside Edge.

“At times like these

I don’t know where I’m standing

If pain should ease

I’ll find some understanding

Shine on my dreams, shine on my dreams

Music & Lyrics: Inside Edge (Carl, Mike, Nigel and Phil)
